Join us for Kidical Mass Hastings – a short, family friendly mass bike on the roads of Hastings!
Kidical Mass is a worldwide movement that ‘reclaims’ the streets for a short period each month in the belief that children and young people should be able to move around safely and independently on foot and by bike.
Our 2025 Spring dates are…
🗓️ Saturday 29th March, 10am
🗓️ Saturday 26th April, 10am
🗓️ Saturday 31st May, 10am
📍 Meet at The Lower Lawns, Alexandra Park
🚲 A 2.7mi flat ride, which should take around 40 minutes

Details
🌳 Starting at The Lower Lawn in Alexandra park (the bottom end by the War Memorial), we will set off at 10am for an anti-clockwise loop of the Lower Park before heading down Queen’s Road to the town centre. Then we will ride across to Robertson Street and onto the promenade, before finishing at The Hastings Bike Project for a coffee and babycino.
🚧 The ride will ‘take over’ our side of the road and fill the lane. Cars will be unable to overtake. We will have volunteers and marshalls wearing high vis at the front, back and throughout the ride. They will carefully stop traffic when needed.
🔔 Dress loud, bring flags, signs, horns, bells and make some noise! 🔔
This is a great opportunity to show our children (and the people of Hastings!) that our roads are for everyone. No matter your age or ability.
Please note, that children must be accompanied by an adult and if they are riding their own bike, should be able to ride independently and confidently. Unfortunately, we would recommend that balance bikes and scooters aren’t suitable for the event.

Where else holds Kidical Mass events?
Kidical Mass is held all over the world. Closer to home, both Brighton and Eastbourne have their own events – now it’s time to bring it to Hastings and St Leonards!
Is it safe?
Yes! Having a large group makes us very visible to traffic and ride leaders/marshalls will have high vis. Wearing a helmet is of course recommended, but that is down to personal preference.
Will you ride fast?
Absolutely not! The pace will be very comfortable allowing even the most leisurely of riders to enjoy it.
Can we join the ride at any point?
Of course, you can join the ride – and leave it – at any point you would like.
How can I stay updated?
Join our event page on Facebook for updates… https://fb.me/e/8eAbLZKAm
What if it’s raining?
A bit of drizzle won’t put us off – a named storm probably will. Check the Facebook event page nearer the time for updates.
