Thirty five people on all kinds of bikes from rusty shed specials to cargo bike cruisers including ten children under ten took to the roads taking part in Hastings inaugural Kidical Mass yesterday, Saturday 22nd Feb.
Riding on the roads the event aims to encourage safe road use and apply some gentle pressure to the powers that be get long overdue biking walking and wheeling infrastructure in place.

One child on the ride said “I can’t normally ride down to the seafront but today I could. I hope one day I can ride to school safely”. Another rider said “the potholes are troubling for cars but can be lethal for riders”.
Despite the terrible state of the roads and biking infrastructure the ride is small joyous event, affirming confidence in those who haven’t ridden on the road before and giving those who want to see a more human aspect brought to our transport infrastructure a small glimmer of hope.
See you at the next one!
